Skippership Basics

Learn the core structure of your Skippership account, how data is collected, and how projects, privacy, and permissions work together.

To get the most out of Skippership, it’s important to understand the main components of your account and how they work together.
This section walks you through how your tracking data is collected, where it’s stored, and how your account is structured.

How Skippership collects data

Skippership captures user interactions through session replay. These sessions power every insight you see, from heatmaps and funnels to user journeys and website analytics.
To start collecting data, your tracking script needs to be properly installed and active on your website.

If you haven’t set up tracking yet, check the Installation Guide page.

Skippership supports all major browsers, including Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Brave, Opera, and Edge.

Privacy and data protection

At Skippership, privacy is built into the product.
Sensitive user information such as passwords, card numbers, and personal input fields is automatically masked in every recording. This ensures that no private data is ever stored or displayed in your dashboard.

For more details on how masking works, see Recording Sensitive Data.

Your account is your personal workspace in Skippership.
Admins and owners have access to full account and billing settings, while members have role-based permissions for accessing projects and analytics.
